In spring 2007, Land Rover will replace the Freelander with the 2008 LR2. Based on an automotive platform ruggedized to meet Land Rover standards, the LR2 has a novel, all-new transverse inline-six engine coupled to a six-speed automatic and all-new all-wheel drive that uses Land Rover's sophisticated Terrain Response control system. Gradient Release Control, which controls hill descents, is standard as well. The LR2's top audio system includes 12-speaker DVD Pro Logic II 7.1 Surround Sound with fiber-optic interconnects.
